Coronavirus (COVID-19): Practice Information Updates

Practice update 26/02/2021

We have vaccinated 1500 patients in our Covid Vaccine Clinics in CF61 over the past 2 months. A total of almost 4000 of our patients have received the 1st Covid Vaccine.

We are still receiving lots of queries regarding eligibility for covid vaccines. Please review the link below which provides regular updates regarding the different cohorts, in particular we are receiving queries from patients regarding Group 6 and these can be answered below:

Practice update 17/02/2021
Last week we vaccinated 430 patients in 2 clinics in CF61. We have sent invitations to our patients aged 69,68 to attend for vaccination at our clinic on Friday 19th February. We have also sent invitations for Friday 26th February for patients aged 67 and most of our 66 year olds. We are waiting for the next delivery schedule from the Health Board so that we can plan our next clinic and invite the remaining 66 year olds and all our 65 year old patients for vaccination. There is no wastage as if we have any vaccines spare at the end of the clinic we contact patients from the same cohort to attend – usually from the following booked session.
Thank you for your patience.

Practice update 10/02/2021

Today we vaccinated another 225 patients. We have another clinic scheduled for Friday morning to complete 1st covid vaccination of all patients aged 75+ who are able to attend our Vaccination Centre at CF61. If you are 75+ and haven’t received an invitation, please phone the practice on 01446 793444 to obtain an appointment for Friday.
Please see information below regarding 70-74 year olds, housebound and clinically extremely vulnerable – please do not phone the practice for vaccination if you are in these cohorts as you need to contact 02921841234.
We are sending out appointments this week for 69-68  year olds to attend our vaccination clinic on 19th February.  We are awaiting details of our next vaccine delivery from the Health Board to schedule more clinics. We will be targeting 65-69 year olds next.

Thank you for supporting our Covid Vaccination programme from a fast track vaccination centre in Llantwit Major for all our patients. Dedicated parking with a swift one way journey through the CF61 building. We are on track to have invited all our mobile patients aged 75+ for vaccination by 12th February.

Practice update 05/02/2021

This morning we vaccinated 250 patients at CF61.  We have now vaccinated a total of 615 patients aged 80 and over. This concludes vaccination of patients aged 80 and over, who are not housebound.

We have sent appointment letters to all our patients aged 75-79 to attend the clinics we are holding on Tuesday and Friday next week as we have been fortunate to receive a delivery of vaccines to cover these 500 patients.
Patients aged 70-74 will be contacted by the  the Mass Vaccination Centres, we are not permitted to use the vaccines we are allocated for patients in this cohort.
The Local Health Board is also arranging vaccination of Housebound patients and patients who are Shielding.
In total, 1700 patients in the top four priority categories have now received their first covid vaccination.
Well done to our vaccination team 👏👏👏

Practice Update 01/02/2021
Another successful covid vaccination clinic was held today in CF61. Thank you to all our Vaccinators, including our retired Dr Foreman, who has returned to work today to help with our vaccination programme 👏
We have now vaccinated 365 patients over the age of 80. We have posted invitation letters to all our over 80 year olds, with appointments for our next clinic on Friday 5th February. We are running clinics once a week at the moment as we are limited by the number of vaccines that we are supplied with by Health Board, and unfortunately we only have enough for 1 clinic a week. If we receive more vaccines then we will hold more clinics each week. Our Vaccinators are keen to vaccinate more patients but we simply do not have access to any more vaccines at present.  We have sent invitations for patients with dates of birth before March 1941 to receive vaccination on 5th February. The following week, subject to receiving more vaccines, we will run clinics for patients 75-79, and again we will invite these patients by starting with the oldest and working down through the ages. We are using CF61 as the site is excellent for providing a safe vaccination environment, and it also enables us to continue to provide our usual doctor and nursing services at the same time.
Thank you for your patience, and also your kindness towards our staff who are working incredibly hard to deliver this additional service.

Vaccine update 20/01/2021
The Health Board has asked us to immunise the over 80s in line with the national priority list. Patients in Care Homes, Housebound or Shielding will be contacted by the Health Board as they are organising vaccination for these groups.  Last week we invited 100 patients aged over 90 to attend our Covid Vaccine Clinic at CF61. Unfortunately, despite sending letters in first class post by Tuesday, a few patients did not receive their invitations until 3-4 days later. We have re-booked these patients into our next clinic on Friday 22nd January.
We have received another 50 vaccines and have sent letters to patients aged 88-89, we have also invited some of our 87 year olds (the remainder will be invited to the next clinic when we receive more vaccines).
We hope to receive a much higher quantity of vaccines when they become available to the Health Board.
We are working though our patient list starting with the oldest. We will be contacting all eligible patients in due course – there is no need to call us as it prevents patients needing urgent care from getting through.
In the meantime, please take care and follow the guidelines, your health and wellbeing is paramount.

Please do not telephone the practice for information regarding the vaccine or eligibility.

We have to follow Public Health Wales guidelines for prioritising with regard to Covid 19 vaccinations. Please visit their website for further information on entitlement.
