Welcome to our new website.
Be Prepared for May Bank Holidays:
Monday 6th May 2019
Monday 27th May 2019
The surgery will be closed on these above dates.
Choosing the right services and treatments helps to save you time and make sure that you and your family get the right care quickly.
REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS IN THE RUN UP TO MAY BANK HOLIDAYS
Order your repeat prescriptions early to ensure you have enough supply to last over the bank holiday period, and also to allow the pharmacy time to prepare and/or deliver them.
If you’re feeling under the weather
Choose Well can help you decide if you need medical attention if you get sick. It explains what each NHS service does, and when it should be used. Choosing Well means that you and your family will get the best treatment. It also allows busy NHS services to help the people who need them most. If you don’t know which option to choose, please contact NHS Direct Wales on 0845 46 47 or visit www.choosewellwales.org.uk
Over the Holiday period check the hot topic page on the UHB website for the revised opening hours of community pharmacies.
Visit a community pharmacy if you run out of your regular medicines as some can be bought over the counter. Some medicines such as paracetamol and ibuprofen can be bought at non-pharmacy premises e.g. your local supermarket or corner shop.
Your own Community Pharmacist can make an emergency supply of some repeat medication, should you run out. You’ll need to take your empty medicine containers with labels attached or your repeat prescription counterfoil along to a community pharmacy (your usual one is probably best). There may be a charge for this service.
If you are worried about your sight or the sight of a relative or friend you can obtain further information from the Welsh Eye Care Services website http://www.eyecare.wales.nhs.uk/home where you can obtain further information on optometrists that can deal with your condition.
Have a great bank holiday!
Llantwit Major & Coastal Vale Medical Practice
We have changed the name of our partnership to Llantwit Major and Coastal Vale Medical Practice to reflect all three surgeries and the 10850 patients we serve which form our group in the coastal areas we cover.
Eryl Surgery was originally opened in 1984 and will continue to be the local address of the surgery site in Llantwit Major. We also have modern purpose-built branch surgeries in Rhoose and St Athan. All our premises have easy local parking and wheelchair access.
We pride ourselves in offering accessible high quality patient centred care. All our morning appointments are open access for booking on the same day between 8.30 -10.00. We have recently introduced My Health on Line and included some morning pre-bookable appointments and some late afternoon appointments which can be booked in advanced via this on-line system. In addition, telephone consultations are available every morning with all doctors to enable patients to access a doctor of their choice, and also to meet patient needs as we appreciate that sometimes it can be inconvenient and un-necessary for patients to attend the surgery.
We have undergone an extensive refurbishment programme at our main site in Llantwit Major and are now pleased to provide services from our modernised premises. We have extended the number of clinical consultation rooms in Llantwit Major which has enabled us to improve our delivery of primary care services. We have increased our number of call handlers to ensure that telephone calls are answered promptly at peak times between 8.30 and 9.00. My Health On-Line Appointments are available for pre-booking every day and we would encourage you to sign up to this system for both booking appointments and also ordering repeat prescriptions on-line. We hope you find the waiting area more comfortable and also enjoy the ease of access to the automated BP machines installed in all 3 practices.
Book your Flu jab!
We are now able to offer appointments for this years flu jab. Please contact the surgery to book your appointment.
The practice was presented with the Community Award 2011 by Llantwit Major Town Council in recognition of services provided by the doctors and practice staff. We are very proud of this achievement.
PLEASE NOTE ALL TELEPHONE CALLS ARE RECORDED FOR QUALITY AND TRAINING PURPOSE
